Consistently very good. All the pastas and the Bronzino are our favorites. The outside patio is great on a warm summer evening. Service has always been spot on (although when it gets busy on the weekend, food can be a little slow in arriving so be patient and have a little more wine!) The wine list has a nice selection in all price ranges.

Went here for first time last night and was very pleased. The service was great as was the food. We ordered the shrimp and calamari appetizer which was delicious. I had the lasagna which I loved. My husband had the strozzapreti salciccia which he also loved. The sangria was quite good too. Will definitely be going back.

Giardino may be the best kept secret and THE best restaurant in Westlake, already crowded with great restaurants. The atmosphere isn't much and the location inside an industrial park is unusual. The service is terrific and the food is truly outstanding. Their happy hour from 4-7 daily could become an addiction. With $6.00 glasses of everything from prosecco to bellinis to mimosas and wonderful appetizers for $7.00, it's a strong argument for stopping by more than once a week. The Santa Barbara mussels in a light tomato garlic broth are small, sweet and tender. The fried and traditional meatballs are both viewing for favorite status and are in a tie for first. The vincisgrassi lasagna is so light and delicate, it can pass as a light pasta course without ruining your appetite for more wonders to come. The Vitiello al funghi (veal with mushrooms) is light and perfectly cooked and the filet to di manzo may be the tastiest steak you've ever had. All the sides could stand on their own a la carte at the finest steakhouses. Then there is the desserts. The tiramisu is very light moist and not too sweet, but the panne cotta is both addictive and the best dessert I've ever eaten. Can't wait to go back next week to delve deeper into their menu. Maybe they have something just average-but I highly doubt it.

Food was pretty.good, service was not. Entrees took an over an hour to come out and it wasn t that busy. Had to ask for bread and waitress was a stranger. We will give it another shot at some point, but can t recommended this place.

My boyfriend and I came here just to try something new and the reviews were great also. We were completely blown away by the hospitality, service and food. This is a genuine, authentic italian food restaurant and I HIGHLY recommend anyone here. The gnocchi is amazing, but our favorite dish we tried was the panna cotta for dessert, it was unreal. So excited we found Giardino!

So no pictures of any of our food cause it was more important to devour it than take pictures of it. Everything was Uh-Mazing! The service was wonderful. One guy spent 20 minutes making sure we got a working outdoor heater. The courtyard is beautiful. Love the music. And now the food: everything was delicious and well presented. I really like the smaller portions so you get to try more things. Of course my wallet didn't love that. -burrata salad: 5+ The pickled beets were perfect and the mozzarella was creamy perfection -vitello tunnato: 4 Subtle and smooth with hints of vinegar from the capers -gnocchi: 5 The texture of the gnocchi was spot on. We loved the mushrooms and the pancetta. Hubby prefers gnocchi without ricotta but I loved it. -oxtail ravioli: 5 Great flavors. Love the fresh rosemary. Only wish it had parmigiana instead of pecorino -veal second plate:5 Tons of fresh mushroom and a delicious sauce. The spinach was rather plain but wonderful mixed into everything. The potatoes were sliced so thinly and seasoned well. I loved the sprigs of fresh thyme that when mixed into everything and then removed provided nice bursts of flavor. Tiramisu:4 Delicious and very light. Not very substantial compared to other tiramisu but wonderful all the same. Pana cotta: 5++ The almond cream with hints of orange covered in dark chocolate was the perfect combination. My only wish was that it be a tad bit former. Just a tad. And to top it off they were so friendly and didn't rush is at all even though we stayed long past closing. A great dining experience all around.

Gentlemen, this is an awesome first date spot if you're stuck in the area! Just please warn your date beforehand that it's located in a shady looking industrial shopping center, otherwise she might start to worry you're a serial killer. Seriously though. This place is super hidden and doesn't seem like much from the outside. Like they say, don't judge a book by its cover. If you can get past the view from the parking lot, you'll be rewarded with an intimate Italian restaurant with a magical little courtyard. Make your reservations for one of the courtyard tables and you will feel like you crossed over some threshold into Italy. We had an absolutely fantastic dinner. Great service from our super duper Italian waiters, awesome wine recommendations and great food. Keep in mind the portions are on the smaller side since it's pretty authentically Italian, but that just means you can order more! What we had: Burrata (5/5 stars): oh I love burrata and this was everything burrata should be. So light and fresh and delicious. Crudo di Tonno (5/5 stars): Fresh and delicious yellowtail sashimi with a chili citrus dressing. so regretting sharing this as I wanted the whole plate to myself! Gnocchi di Ricotta (5/5 stars): you can taste the difference when pasta is freshly made. This was fantastic! Salmon (5/5 stars): a small portion, but delicious every bite. Topped with tomatoes and came with a side of sweet potato. Brussel sprouts (3/5 stars): not the best I've had. Could've been slightly more roasted. Chitarrine Aragosta (or lobster pasta) (3/5 stars): I didn't try this but my husband wasn't too pleased with it. Maybe I was seduced by the hidden charm, the Italian accents, and the vino, but this was a 5 star experience for me! Looking forward to going back!

I am not sure where to even begin. I have to give two stars because I've had better at Olive Garden (pick any location) and EnjoEAT in Culver City, CA. The spaghetti vongole was terrible, worse than what I cook at home. Here's what went wrong: -No flavor, whatsoever. This entree needs freshly ground black pepper, salt, red pepper flakes, minced or smashed garlic, basil, and cheese, to name a few ingredients. -Pieces of clam meat are no bigger than my top pinky joint. -The only two sliced garlic pieces in the dish were bigger than the clam meat pieces. -The clams were smaller than what I buy in the grocery store; only 15 are in the dish. -There was so much oil that this should probably be re-named "oil soup." Maybe the place did this on purpose since no butter was provided with the untoasted bread? -Portion was half of EnjoEAT's linguine scoglio. I also ordered the Swiss chard, which was good. It reminds me of something my mother would cook - a stir-fried swiss chard with a bit of salt. Too bad the portion size was tiny; it was half of a soup container. This should not cost $6.95. I can get an entire egg drop soup container of the same size for $3 at a Chinese restaurant. The pasta entree was $17.95. I can get double the amount with more variety of seafood (mussels, shrimp, etc) and MUCH more flavor from EnjoEAT for $21.80, including tax. Maybe this place gets high ratings from other people because of the ambience, but given I ordered my food to-go, I can only rate based on taste alone. Although this meal would cost less than $4 to make at home, the total was $26.77 including tax for only two items. I will definitely not return!

Beautiful hidden gem amongst a number of businesses in Westlake off of Townsgate Rd. Once you're inside you pretty much forget the almost industrial-esque feel outside. The restaurant is cozy & dimly lit and they also have a cute little outdoor patio with plenty of heat lamps for cooler nights. I've been here several times now... its proximity to work is ideal & a friend of mine really enjoys it there. The service is always pleasant, friendly and courteous. I've now tried a small variety of their dishes, my favorite being their charcuterie plate. An assortment of meats- including mortadella, prosciutto and unique spicy "salami calabrese" type spread thats delicious with their soft baguette- anchovies and an arancini type fritter filled with a sweet cream, which is perfect with the salty and savory meats. I feel the prices are pretty steep for the portions you receive. I'm not looking for an Olive Garden experience, but very, VERY rarely do I ever have three courses at an Italian restaurant. Here, you kind of need to. The food and service are good and it's something a little more unique & quaint for the area. I may not be a frequent visitor, but I'll be back..

Heard about this place via word of mouth, and had to see what all the fuss was about! The restuarant is literally a gem in Westlake, and is tucked inside a business park. Easy to find but you will totally think you're going to the wrong place. Lots of the buildings nearby are going through construction/getting remodeled, so don't turn back! We arrived on a Tuesday night, and there was hardly anyone in the restuarant. It had a cozy, modern atmosphere. Very beautiful and romantic. We were immediately served water and our waiter was very attentive. He shared with us all the specials and gave us great recommendations on what to get. There is complimentary French bread with olive oil and vinegrette. Not the best free bread I have gotten compared to some other restuarants, but hey free bread! We ordered the Caesar Salad for starters, Lasagna, the Ricotta Gnocchi, and the chocolate souffle. Salad: Interesting, the salad leaves were not sliced up as most salads are. Pretty basic, a little too much sauce on mine but not a big deal. Lasagna: Most lasagnas tend to be heavy and too filling, but this was the first "light" lasagna I have ever had. The pasta was super super thin, with a perfect amount of meat and sauce. It was topped with a crispy layer of mozeralla cheese, which was yum yum! Gnocchi: Very creamy dish with bacon and mushrooms. Very nice, loved the sauce. Very good dish! Chocolate souffle: YUM, takes about 10 mins to make. 5-6 good bites to finish. There was chocolate that oozed out when you took a piece. Loved the balance of the sour cream ice cream and the vanilla-lemon sauce. Would definitely recommend getting this for dessert! Overall, good experience. A little on the pricier side in terms of cost, but I enjoyed everything! Would come back again to try out the rest of the menu.

I was so happy to have a great new Italian restaurant in Westlake. But our last few visits have not been good experiences - and we had been excited to bring visiting family and friends with us. The last two times we waited close to 2 hours for our food, and then our table of 7 wasn't even served plates together, but at ten minute intervals. You can't eat if two people are sitting there without food!! The pasta was stuck in clumps and we asked repeatedly for coffee, wine, and water. The waiter made a big deal of giving a (1) free bottle of beer for our wait - this on a $600 dinner tab! Nope, done. Rustico.

Great ambiance. Authentic Italian food. We had multiple dishes, and they were all very good. Highlights: Ragu sauce and Tiramisu. Solid Chianti pairing recommendation. The staff and chef were having a great time. Maybe even saying a few inappropriate sentences in Italian, but that just added to the experience. Cheers!

From the minute you walk in to the minute you walk out, this place is top notch. I went here with my brothers family and had one of the best dinners we have had in a long time. The service was also very good. We will be back soon with our little baby. Thanks

Looking for a different Italian restaurant in Westlake Village/Thousand Oaks area. Went to Yelp for a list of options and I read some of the reviews. Decided to give this place a try and very glad that we did! Located at the site of an eatery that had been in Westlake Village for many years, The Plug Nickle, Giardino, has a beautiful patio as well as inside dining. The weather was beautiful and almost all of the patrons opted for the outdoors. The service was exemplary but not overbearing and the food was outstanding. We selected the lasagne which was light and very flavorful and fettuccine with a meat sauce. Not very adventuresome but just what we wanted. I also had a house Caesar salad. Dressing was a yogurt base and not to my liking although the greens were crisp. On balance, it was a delightful dinner on an outdoor patio tucked away in a business section of WLV.

This tiny new Italian gem in Westlake Village is soon to be a neighborhood favorite!!! I went here over the holidays with 13 of my family members and had an exceptional experience. The food was delicious, the service top notch (both servers were from Italy) and atmosphere quiet and friendly! My food recs below: 1. Lobster Pasta 2. Gnocchi 3. Salmon 4. Dry meats appetizer FYI, the location is hidden, it's in a complex surrounded by small businesses. Well worth 5 minutes getting lost!!!

Last night my husband and I thought we would give this restaurant a try. We were seated instead the restaurant, instead of outside on the patio, which was still very pleasant. From the start, our waiter, I think it was one of the 2 partners, gave the impression he was very frazzled, and this was at 6:20 pm! We placed our order for 1 happy hour appetizer & 2 glasses of wine. Got the wine immediately, but the appetizer didn't come til 45 minutes later & we were almost done with the wine. Our waiter did say they were having problems with their computer. Bread came with oil & balsamic vinegar. We had to ask for salt and pepper. With barely finishing 1 piece of bread, a busboy asks if we are done with the oil & vinegar! A half hour after that, we get our entrees. My husband ordered a pasta dish, the portion was so-so. They did have 3 pasta dishes on the menu in a small portion size. I would hate to see that portion size! My entree was the swordfish loin, which came with roasted tomato & sauteed spinach. I asked to substitute with the sweet potatoe puree. Instead I got sweet potato fries & no spinach! Thought we would give this restaurant a try, would not even consider going back!

All I have to say is WOW what a beautiful restaurant and truly amazing food. I grew up in Italy and the food at (IL Giardino) is truly authentic Italian cuisine, from the fresh smell of the food as soon you walking in the restaurant to the amazing tasting dishes and welcoming staff. I would recommend everything in the menu, I had the Burrata for appetizers and the black taliatelle with mix seafood that was out of this world. I will definitely be back for more. Not speaking about the beautiful outdoor patio Congratulations IL Giardino, keep up the good work your doing an amazing job.

WOW! I'm a native Italian and this is the best food I've had in all of Los Angeles. So authentic, fresh and delicious. I drive all the way from Marina del Rey to eat here. If you are ever in Westlake Village or driving north on the 101 you have to stop by and have a taste of Italy.

This is the most bizarre location for a restaurant that I have ever seen. It is DEEP in an office park in Westlake Village. Glad to say that the food is really good and the service is excellent though. Wife had some kind of fried chicken breast. I had spaghetti and clams. Both entrees were delicious! My pasta was cooked perfectly and the clams and the dish were perfectly seasoned. We also had a cappuccino and a double espresso to end the meal. Both beverages were excellent. We didn't try any starters. Two cons: No salt and pepper on the table which I always find annoying even in the finest restaurants. They bring it if you ask for it though. The bread they served before the meal was just meh. Not memorable at all. Good place. You should go. You'll like it!

*** reading some of the posts below... I think some may have the wrong Giardino's. I am Italian from NY - did not feel it, also you if you read what they ordered... you will see you need to order 5 items) **** MIXED REVIEW: I had to pick up my daughter at 6:30pm, so I call at 5pm, do I need a reservation? No you do not. Ok, so Arrive at 5:38pm. 5 tables seated. Walk up to the front. Do you have a reservation? No... oh... Well, oh, I called and they said I did not need one. Well the stoic Maître d was all but bubbles, glared at me, and sat me down. Then she continued to give me the evil eye throughout dinner. The server was magnifico. The food was great. Very small portions for a huge price. Only one vegetarian menu item besides soup of the day (which was amazing). Sadly, will not be going back. Chairs sucked (mine almost slid out from under me). I don't mind Wednesday Addams Seating me, but don't give me the death glare because you don't think I make money.( I was the the guest who did not bring their own wine and over tipped...) Sorry I did not drive up in a Porsche...... Got my daughter $15.95 tortellini to go (all 5 pieces - did not give us any bread, pr offer, did you want a side salad/soup to go?. ( cause I ordered all at the same time - they don't tell you tiny portions.. you need to order all 5 courses) but they blessed her with amazing Parmesan cheese) Also, the deserts are the size of tarts... tip: make sure you are ordering all 5 courses.

We had gone to Giardino for dinner and had a wonderful experience. From the minute you walk in the door the atmosphere is truly amazing! The restaurant is beautiful, everywhere you look, it is tastefully decorated and very well taken care of. The patio is area is fantastic! The food was delicious, "As good as it gets!", this is some of the best food we have ever had. Parking: There is plenty of parking and very accessible. Service: I was immediately greeted and was seated by the staff. The servers were always quick to respond, and very helpful with the menu and wine choices to match. We really felt taken care of. This place is truly spectacular. I am very glad that the service, drinks, and food match the brilliance of the atmosphere, because I will be returning again and again.

I had a great time at Giardino. All of the service staff was very friendly and helpful. We got a last minute reservation for last Friday night, and the restaurant was bustling with great music and lots of diners. The food was tasty and served well! we ordered, to share amongst the 3 of us, the Bresaola; then, *steak tartar *burrata salad *the veal appetizer all really delicious and a great portion size for the price. Definitely expensive, but not overpriced. The one flaw I really noticed is that the food takes quite a while to come out. Our table decided to order appetizers first, look at the menu for entreés after we had dug in. Because our first course took so long, we decided that it had been plenty of food. We'll just go back again for some of the homemade pastas!

Very friendly service with good food and amazing attention to detail. A hidden gem far exceeding expectations. It's in a business park, so you'll think your gps took you to the wrong place. But tucked inside is a great authentic Italian restaurant waiting to serve you hand and foot.

Had a wonderful Valentine's day dinner here. I generally avoid Valentine's day out but we had a friend in town from overseas so we decided to go out to dinner. I know that on V day you are usually not going to get the best food or service. That was not the case here. They did have a set menu but the food was fabulous. We each had an appetizer, main and dessert. We all agreed that it was one of the best meals we had ever had. Here is a quick review of what we ate: Apps: Tuna Tartare, Burrata with beets and Mussels. I hate beets and the Burrata with beets has converted me. The Burata was soft and home made with wilted spinach and the beets were lightly pickled in vinegar which balanced out the creamy Burrata. The tartare was very fresh, lightly seasoned with chilis and crispy onions. It was a delight. Our friend ate every mussel and said he's never had such good mussels. We then had the lasagne, the eggplant pasta and beef tenderloin. I don't eat beef but both of the guys agreed that it was so tender and one of the best cuts. The lasagne was perfect, a bit crispy on the edges with a perfect balance of cheese, meat and sauce. The eggplant pasta was perfect with a very well made mariana and al dente pasta. Dessert we had the sour cream ice cream with chocolate cake and the panna cota. The sour cream ice-cream was tart and perfectly balanced the rich cake. It as a mini soufflé type cake with creamy chocolate center. They let us know it would take 10 extra minutes and it was well worth it. Our friend ate the panna cota so fast, we didn't even try it! The location is tucked away but it's decorated beautifully and has a very nice patio. Most of the staff is Italian and you could hear it being spoken in the kitchen. They only have beer and wine so if you are looking for mixed drinks, this is not the place for you. We tried a Milano beer I'd never had. It was nice. They had a pretty long wine list so I'm sure their selections are great. We can't wait to go back on a regular night and try more of the menu items. Considering how good the food and service was on such a busy night, we know we won't be disappointed.

This place is a hidden gem! My wife and I come here 3-4 times a month. If you are looking for real authentic Italian food with great service then this is the spot. Everything is good so try it all. Personal favorite is the vincigrassi (lasagna).

I'm in heaven. Came to check this place out because we love Italian food and are so glad we did. Totally worth the drive. Quaint, charming restaurant with a romantic patio and some of the best food I've ever had. From the bread to the amazing dessert. Definitely try the swordfish with sweet potato fries. But save room for the panna cotta. You won't be disappointed. Great , friendly staff go out of their way to make sure you feel welcome. It's out of the way, but that's part of the charm. A true gem

You've got to try this place! And tell your friends about it! Without a doubt, the best Italian food in the city--worth traveling to. The casual atmosphere may underestimate the superb quality of the food. But it's our new favorite restaurant! They have a fabulous Happy Hour as well if you just want to check out how good this food is. You'll come back!! and the regular menu is very reasonably priced too :)

The best Italian food we have had in the Thousand Oaks/Westlake area in over twenty years. We are all still talking about it today! Fantastic service. Call for directions when you make your reservation, the place is a little tricky to find. It has a beautiful outdoor seating area. We ordered the veal, a daily special Brussel sprout/meat pasta, eggplant pasta, several appetizers including cauliflower soup and venison. We finished off with coffee and a few fabulous desserts. They served us a nice Chianti wine which we wanted. This restaurant is a fantastic find.

I had heard two different people in the area talking about this new spot and am very glad my wife and I tried it out. As others have noted the space is very beautiful and romantic, especially the courtyard area. We were warmly greeted by Valentino and then by the owner, Matteo, and welcomed as if we were guests in their home. Our server was Salvatore and he was friendly and gracious, and efficient. We began with an appetizer dish of Braesola and arugula--very good and we enjoyed it with their high quality olive oil. For our main courses we tried the thinly pounded veal saltimbocca and the filleto di manzo--this was a fantastic and tender filet mignon of about 8oz with mashed potatoes and asparagus. It was melt in your mouth tender and I literally did cut portions of it with my fork. Having just been in Tuscany for 10 days this past April we saw a chianti from a tiny village we had intended to visit but were unable to so we ordered a few glasses of it and it took us back immediately in our hearts and minds to that magical place. It was called 'Lamole' from one of my preferred vintages, 2010. Very light but with the typical dried cherry and cranberry notes of sangiovese with hints of dried herbs. It's amazing how wine can be a very affordable vacation in a glass! Dinner was completed with two excellent desserts, a pana cotta and a superb rendition of tiramisu--much lighter than many dense ones I've had. Both were delicious. We can't wait to come back here with friends and sample more. The owner has done a wonderful job of creating a space that really feels like the warmth of Italy. Bravo.

I live in Sherman Oaks, my friends live in Ventura. In order for us to catch up we meet in TO at least monthly. In the mood for Italian we chose this restaurant. I dislike commercial/chain restaurants as they lack exactly was this beautiful restaurant offers. I'm glad we took a chance (because of it's warehouse surroundings) on this place. From the moment we arrived we were greeted warmly by two young men (chef and owner?) who, by their accents, where genuinely Italian. The environment had a vineyard wine tasting room feel. The food was definitely authentic, not processed, and fresh. Their wine list was to my liking (and they offer beer and spirits too). This place is great for groups, parties (I.e. Outdoor patio, open floor plan, plenty of parking...) dates and business meetings. I would have liked that their be larger portions 'cus even though I got fullI, leftovers;0) are always good. To all who love a great intimate dinner or want to impress that special someone, I recommend G's.

Love this place! I loved it so much I ate there three times in one week. I recommend the fettuccine with the meat ragout, the squid ink seafood pasta, the cured meat appetizer and finish off with the most amazing panna cotta you have ever had!

Celebrated my birthday with my wife and our best friends tonight and I couldn't have asked for a more wonderful experience. From the attentiveness and helpfulness of the hostess and wait staff, the personal attention paid to us and his other customers by the owner, Matteo, to the outstanding cuisine, expertly prepared by the chef and his kitchen we were knocked out. We will be back, guaranteed. I recommend this restaurant, wholeheartedly, to you and to everyone I know.

Recommended by my friend. Initially, I was like where are we going? This restaurant is a hidden gem- hidden amongst these industrial center buildings. It was difficult to find. Okay there is a sign for wine tasting, so we follow those signs - love the fact that there is no valet and plenty of parking with all the luxurious cars- okay I understand I was in Westlake. Walked into the restaurant and I felt like I was in Italy- all the waiters were speaking Italiano. Our waiter, Valentino was so friendly- recommended all the great dishes and was very honest about portion size. I ordered the oxtail ravioli that just melted in my mouth. My girlfriend ordered the black pasta seafood- the seafood smelled so fresh and the pasta was al dente. I also had the spinach soup - initially it looked too green to eat, but once I had one bite, I couldn't resist but eat the rest. We ended our meal with great desserts- tiramisu and panna cotta. I never had tiramisu anywhere else like the way they made it here. Sorry, I can't go back to Macaroni Grill- this is legit Italian food.

Tonight was our first time dining at Giardino- what a nice experience. The staff was very friendly, the food was good, and the selection was very adequate. The folks who worked there mingled with the guests, sat down and had a glass of wine, laughed, talked. It felt very comfortable and friendly. This is not to say that we didn't have a private dinner- but all around, when invited the manager and kitchen staff showed comfort with their food and costumers. Clearly there were numerous regulars in the place. I can see why- it felt like home in some ways. Note: I ordered a chicken fettuccine but without sharp cheese. They made it with the cheese, caught the error and apologized for the delay as they remade the dish for me. We could have cared less about the wait but they were so bothered by the wait, the tiramisu was on the house. Tiramisu, cappuccino, fried calamari and zucchini, and chicken cannelloni were excellent.

Super delicious and authentic. If you're someone who like to modify and change up the menu items, stay away. If you're someone who love an exceptional authentic dish. This is the place for you. The dishes are light and full of flavor. I had the fettuccine shrimp pasta special. It was the exact lightness and taste that I was looking for. Excellent service and beautiful environment...good wines too.

This place is really wonderful. It's tucked away in a business complex but I highly recommend trying to find it, it's very much worth it. We sat inside where it was warm and cozy but they also have a really lovely outdoor patio. We were warmly greeted and seated right away. We ordered the Burrata appetizer which was delicious. For our entrees we ordered the traditional lasagna and the eggplant pasta. Both of these pastas were quite tasty. And we had really great service. I would highly recommend this place. They have only been open 3 months so give them a chance!!

I started with the grilled octopus-DELISH! Then the oxtail ravioli. Perfectly cooked, the ravioli tender, well balanced, I am excited to try other items on the menu. Service was spot on. The owners were friendly and attentive. I will definitely be back for dinner and wine. This place is located close to work, so I will be coming here for lunch often!

Tonight we ate at Giardino. The food was wonderful! The presentation, the portions, the flavor... We started with the Burrata which had the smoothest, creamiest mozzarella. Perfect! I can really say the sea bass is the best I have ever eaten. The potato gratin was amazing and we ordered another side of it. The prime filet was to melt in your mouth. I can keep going but I think I will leave the rest for you to try. The restaurant is in an industrial park, which is misleading and kind of cool. The atmosphere is trendy yet intimate. Not over the top. The servers were professional and engaging and added to our wonderful evening. I consider this restaurant to be a welcome addition to the other establishments in the area and we will definitely go back. In fact, it may be my new favorite.

This place was recommended by a friend so we decided to try it out tonight. The ambience was relax and the food tasty and well balanced. I had the cuttlefish appetizer which was soft and tender with a fantastic tomato sauce. The seafood salad special was delicious. You must try the chef's tiramisu and panna cotta. The service was friendly and attentive. We will definitely come back to try the other dishes.

First I want to say it is not hard to find this restaurant. Go to Google maps and it gives you the perfect directions. Unfortunately the rest is not such good news. I was there on 12/6 we were a party of 6 and I booked through Open Table. When we arrived they thought it was for 4 people and had no tables for us. We were offered an opportunity to sit outside which had it been August would not have been a problem. It is December folks and even by California standards it was chilly. Our reservation was for 7:30 pm and by 7:45 we were seated inside so that was not a problem. The problems started at 9:00 pm when we still had not gotten our appetizers. Around 9:10 the first of them arrived and while I would like to say the mussels were off the charts I can't because I was so hungry I inhaled the food. We were now on our 3rd bottle of wine and our main course was no where in sight. Finally at 9:40 pm they arrived. My husband had ordered the clams in the white sauce and what he got was the mussel appetizer in a red sauce with a side of spaghetti. When we called the server over he told us they were out of the clams but there may be one or two at the bottom. It was at that point that tempers flared. They did replace his dish with a pasta with meat sauce but by the time it arrived we had all finished eating. Look, this is a new restaurant so we expect hick ups but this is not their first foray into the business. The owners are experienced at this. The food was good but if I want to eat at 9:45 at night I will make a 9:00 pm reservation not a 7:30 pm one. I live in Encino and there are probably 200 other Italian restaurants between here and Weslake therefore I will never have a need to go back. I wish them well as I am sure they will smooth out the wrinkles but with so many choices in this town this would not be on my "must eat" places.

Finally! A great restaurant in Thousand Oaks. It's like a food desert in the Conejo Valley. This is NOT "red sauce veal parmigiana Italian" for the masses, but carefully prepared, Italian cuisine, thoughtfully prepared and well presented. Staff is super attentive and friendly and address us by name. The space is beautifully laid out and a pleasure to linger in over a nice Barolo. Spread the word and let your discerning foodie friends no that we finally have an LA class restaurant in town. Wait until you try the Piccolo Fruta del Mare; a refreshing take on fried calamari.

Was there on Saturday night and at 7pm, the place was only 3/4 full. The restaurant is indeed located in an industrial strip mall but I'm usually more concerned with the way the restaurant looks inside. Nothing fancy here - no tablecloths, different types of plates and trays hanging on the walls as decoration but okay, let's get to the service and the food. We sat at our table for 25 minutes before the waiter came by to introduce himself. Not cool - IF the place was packed, okay, stop by right away and say hello, I'll be right with you. The owner/manager walked by us at least 6 times as well to help deliver food or take an order but never once acknowledged us. When we finally ordered, I asked for the kitchen to chop my salad for me, the waiter said "oh they can't do that, I couldn't even ask them, it is a very small kitchen and they cannot chop" - he actually said that. I had the spaghetti with Lobster - it was mediocre at best and expensive. Others had the lasagna - it was just okay and a small portion for the price. When it was time for dessert, the waiter said 'I wouldn't recommend the soufflé it will take at least 10 minutes to arrive." Always looking for a new restaurant to try but this experience was just BAD.

A very nice and cute Italian restaurant in Westlake. Ordered the gnocchi and the classic tomato basil pasta and both dishes were really well made, loved the tomato flavor in the pasta. I'd give them 4.5/5. Ordered the chocolate lava cake and that was good but like a 3.5/5 in my opinion, not great. Service was quite friendly. The location is a weird commercial strip mall but Google maps leads you perfectly to the place. I highly recommend the place, try it out!!

First really good meal that we've had in this area. Food was super authentic and showed great skill. Great composed dishes. Favorite was the gnocchi. The restaurant is beer and wine only so go get a cocktail somewhere before. I'm giving 4 stars because I felt like the service was not as polished as the cuisine. The food was great though. Approachable for the less adventurous diner but much to be appreciated for foodies. Random location but we sat outside and it was lovely. We will return for our Italian fix!! Cheers

Great new spot in town - excellent service and delicious gluten free pasta. My lamb was okay; it's all about the sausage pasta! My sister had the steak and it was super tender and flavorful. This place is super Italian and cute. Great date spot or night out with the fam.

Our meal started with a wonderful Barollo, we had among the best calamari I've tasted, and by far the best gnocchi I've ever had. Overall a fantastic experience and will definitely go again. They take their time with the food and serving in courses, in the Italian manner, so add an extra hour for when you tell the babysitter you'll be back:-)

Giardino may in fact have some of the most authentic Italian food that I've had this side of the Mediterranean. The plates were incredible, reasonably priced, and served in an atmosphere that will transport you to a Florentine bistro. The ownership and wait staff are incredibly friendly and take great pride in the quality of their offerings. Worth bringing the family and sitting outside in the beautiful garden patio.

I've been to Giardino's twice since it opened - the first time with my wife, the second with a group of friends. Both times were great. The veal appetizer, the tortelloni (my wife rarely eats pasta and loved it), branzino, and tiramisu were so good the first time I got them again. The second time I also tried the lasagna (very good), swordfish (not my favorite), and the chocolate soufflé (go with the tiramisu). We received attentive service both visits. Coincidentally, I've bumped our server a few times around Westlake and he's equally nice outside the restaurant. Both times we've been the chef makes the rounds. He's a lot of fun to talk too. As others have mentioned, it's an odd location between Townsgate and Hampshire. If you get over that and go inside, the setting is excellent. Hopefully word of mouth overcomes the location because this is great addition to Westlake's restaurant options.

This place is amazing. As soon as you walk in, the atmosphere and staff are so welcoming and friendly. The people, food, and atmosphere feel so authentic. The flavors are so rich and multi-dimensional. Everything was amaze-balls. I'm telling you, if you want authentic italian food with a welcoming atmosphere...this is your spot.

This place is great! I had dinner here with a friend a few nights ago. She is Italian and has been looking for authentic Italian food in the area and this place did not disappoint! We were a bit skeptical at first since it is in a business park, but once inside it was really cute and had a great outdoor patio. We shared the yellowtail app and it was amazing! We also shared the Paccheri con Melanzane (egglplant) and gnocchi followed by the panna cotta and tiramisu desserts. Our server Valentino was very nice and helpful. There were so many other dishes we wanted to try so we will definitely be back!

I brought 3 work colleagues here and we had the most amazing meal. The waiter was so sweet (and handsome!) and the owner Giorgio came over to our table to say hello. The food was just incredible. We ordered a couple of starters to share - the tuna, incredible and a good shareable portion, and the cold veal, which I had never tasted before, but my foodie colleague assured me was authentic and as delicious as he had ever eaten. Main course we opted for a selection of pasta, but what stood out was the light and tasty beef lasagna, made with a béchamel sauce and the wonderful gnocchi. I very rarely chose a dessert, but we decided to share the panna cotta and the tiramisu - dear lord, worth every calorie. The restaurant itself is charming - plenty of outside and inside seating and plenty of parking due to it's slightly funky commercial location. I'm going to bring my family next weekend during the day, as word is, the brunch is wonderful.

I have never taken the time to post anything on Yelp before however I feel compelled to support this new restaurant in Westlake Village. The location is going to be the only challenge for Giardino as it's not anywhere one would expect to find a restaurant serving (and I'm not exaggerating) the best authentic regional Italian food I've had in a long time. The quality of the food is matched by attention to presentation and impeccable service. I'm sorry there aren't more than five stars to give this restaurant.

Finally I have found an authentic Italian restaurant in California! I'm Italian and from New York and have been struggling to find a place like this! My friend Valentino (who works here) told me to come by....so, I took a friend of mine and we tried it.....Grazie Mille Valentino! We have found our new spot! Everything was fabulous....the food was authentic (I travel to Italy every year to see family and friends) the service was wonderful....the atmosphere is very cozy and cute....we will be returning to try everything else on the menu haha! And I'm telling everyone they need to go! Don't be fooled by the industrial park outside, it's nothing like that inside! Buon Appetito!

Great food. Great atmosphere. Great service. Don't be put off by the fact that it is in an odd location. In the middle of an industrial park. Had the penne, burrata, salmon, and tiramisu. All were good. Especially the penne and tiramisu.

Wonderful food but small portions for suburbia. Also I would say the prices are too high relative to other good Italian restaurants in better locatons with more ambiance. I hope that I am wrong but I don't think they'll be in business a year from now.

This place is fabulous! It reminds me of a restaurant in Italy where the owner makes sure you have everything you could possibly want. Also, I love the ideas they give us about new dishes and different types of wine to try. Everything they've given us in our numerous visits has been fantastic. It's our very favorite new place!

This place is a hidden gem!!! Hard to find but worth the hunt! Started out with the steak tartar and creamy mozzarella with beats appetizers and that cheese was phenomenal. I had the gnocchi and my girlfriend had the rack of lamb. Both were amazing. The portion size for the gnocchi could have been bigger which is why I gave four stars and not five. Tiramisu was great as well. For sure will be heading back. Great wine selection as well although the by glass prices are kinda steep (another reason for four stars). Servers were attentive and prompt whoever it was a slowish night. Truly a Classic Italian restaurant. Great find over all.

Amazing food and ambiance! So glad we found this adorable restaurant. Amazing food, impeccable service, and gorgeous, lush outdoor patio which would be an ideal spot for weddings! We ate such sweet original Italian dishes from the tasty broccoli soup, Italian style lasagna (amazing), salmon with sweet mashed potato, and a veal dish that was scrumptious as an appetizer. I highly recommend and can't wait to go back soon for round two! Bravo!

Found out about this new restaurant on an open table search. Everyone is correct when saying this place is in a very odd location. If it were not for the 'torch' I don't know if we would have found it. However! What a fabulous place! I can't remember dining at a restaurant with such warm, attentive servers and staff! We loved the dark expansive dining area. I am tired of restaurants cramming tables side by side. We will try the patio next. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. We will be taking our friends next.

Took my friend for a birthday dinner and was so pleased. The service was spectacular and the food marvelous. Valentino and Carlos could not have been more attentive. I had a calamari and shrimp appetizer and she had burr ate. We were both almost full after that but we managed to stuff in an eggplant dish and pillow soft gnocchi ...so good. We were presented with a birthday tiramisu dessert that was heavenly. We will definitely try lunch there and possibly group functions. Try it you'll like it.

Wonderful hidden gem! Booked a private party for 20 people in December, the management was very accommodating and worked out a great day for us, just exactly as I requested. The service excellent, the waiters were so attentive to our group from drink service to food, which by the way was delicious. *For you locals, back in the day this was the Plug Nickle". I know they are in an industrial center but once you get there, Bravo!! BTW, I have visited several times with my husband and friends, they still deliver on all accounts. Great find!

The food was fabulous! Started with the Lentil Soup with Sausage. Delicious! We then shared the Insalata Giardino salad. Just O.K. Very small portion. I've had better. I had the meat lasagna and my friend had the short rib special. The lasagna was very good but portion size was too small. The short rib special was outstanding. Again, small portion considering the waiter did not share the price with us and was not worth $33.00 for one rib, a vegetable and potatoes. The desserts were outstanding. We had the pannacotta and tiramisu. Probably the two best desserts we have had in quite some time. The service was very attentive and friendly. Nice atmosphere. Overall, very good food. Nicely presented. But, for the Beverly Hills prices...I thought the portion sizes were too small. We left hungry and dropped $150.00 and had no alcohol. Location is off the beaten path but not impossible to find. Would have given 5 stars if pricing was more reasonable for the portion sizes. Hope they disclose price of specials in the future and consider offering larger portions. I dine out frequently and consider myself a "foodie" and this was not a good value for the money. I have no problem spending money but charging $15.00 for a bowl of soup is outrageous. I will go back again in a couple months to see how they are progressing...Pricing shows two stars but I think 4 stars is more accurate. The decor was nice but tablecloths would have been a nice touch!

Really bad experience. We had a confirmed reservation for dinner, but they wanted to seat us outside in the patio. After some discussion, they found an inside table for us. Then we ordered our food, and waited 45 mins for the appetizers, and then another 60 minutes for the main courses - total wait time of 1 hour 45 minutes. When they finally brought the main courses, they were incomplete (the waiter had only put four out of five orders in, and my wife had nothing to eat!). Food quality: Vitello Tonnato was good, salads were okay. Pasta dishes were very small (tortellini entre had a total of 7 tortellini!). Lasagne was overcooked and mushy. Ambience was okay, but it was very noisy.

Was there tonight. It's fantastic. The owners and chef are absolutely first class. The lasagna was my favorite. Out of this world. It's a strange location, but you know what? It's quiet. No traffic. Nobody peering through the windows. I loved it. There were four of us and every one of us was blown away by the food and the service. Tiramisu was excellent. I highly recommend it as you can tell. Worth the drive from wherever you are!!!

Amazing service and some of the best Italian food I've had; even compared to food I ate in Italy. Loved the dessert, in fact I would have loved to go back the next night just for the dessert. It will be my first stop if I have to head back to Westlake for a business trip again!!

Pay attention Westlake Village. You don't have to drive to LA or even fly to New York, London or Italy to find food this authentic and good as you will find at Giardino. Granted, its location in an industrial park isn't what you would expect but I think that makes it that much more worth going to. The food is truly "fato en casa", real home made, but of a quality that is so far better than the usual suspects found in the area. The Chef comes from the Marche region of Italy and shows his touch with every dish on the menu. It doesn't hurt that he spent time cooking at a well known Michelin starred restaurant in London called Locatelli which is amazing in its own right. One of tonights specials was grilled Langostino's from Iceland, say what? You won't find that within a 1000 miles! Go now while you can get in because once the word is out, the LA foodies will be trekking out to our neck of the woods to eat here!

Just tried this place for the first time and the Food and customer service was fabulous! The chef did a tasting menu for us so we were able sample a variety of dishes and They were all excellent! The owner Matteo is very friendly and makes you feel very welcome. I highly recommend this place. It's a must try!

Food was bland and overpriced for the small portions given. Service was great so I will give them that. Ambience is lack luster as the restaurant is in the middle of warehouses. Everyone at the table agreed we could make a better Italian meal at home.

Love this new place! We went on Monday night in the hopes of getting a true sense of the restaurant's food and were thoroughly impressed! The service was very attentive and I loved the parking right in front! We tried a Giardino salad and a thinly sliced veal appetizer which I'm not kidding when I say it was "to die for " delicious. It's been on my mind ever since we left... We also tried a delicious yellowtail appetizer. It was So melt in your mouth delicious! We were almost full but ordered an entree to share which I was so glad that we did! It was a delicious lobster special and it was decadently delicious but not heavy! Server went out of his way to make sure we were well taken care of and brought us a bottle of wine to compliment our meal which was perfect. As if we weren't full enough, we ordered a panna cotta for dessert and they must use imported ingredients as it was utterly scrumptious and the perfect way to end our amazing meal! So happy to have this new addition in our community!

My boyfriend and I were looking for an authentic Italian place to try. He's italian and can be very picky about Italian restaurants. Our friend recommended Giardino. We are always open to try new restaurants. Well, last Saturday, my boyfriend and I were arguing all morning. He has a problem with helping me clean on Saturday mornings. He knows it's coming. We have to clean every Saturday morning. Like normal people. We have to. He wanted to watch football and sit on the couch with no shirt on, while I cleaned. This is the 3rd Saturday he did this. I was fed up. I told him he has to make it up to me or we are going to have a serious conversation about why he hasn't proposed. Welp, 6:30PM rolled around and he told me to get dressed and he was taking me to dinner. I put on my best curve loving dress and we were on our way to Giardino Restaurant. I was excited. When we got there, the first thing we noticed was the outside seating. It was beautiful. It was chilly outside, so we opted to dine inside. The waiter spoke great Italian and English. The wine selection is great. The appetizers came out in a timely manner. The cuttlefish is AH-MAZING! The Spaghetti Vongole was great. We ended up staying until closing. We ate and drank so much and the staff was just so welcoming. It was a great night. And my boyfriend escaped another talk about marriage that night. That night........ ;)

We are so excited to have a new Italian restaurant in WLV. The service was amazing! The food was delicious. We had the gnocchi, lasagna, spaghetti and filet mignon. We also had the chocolate souffle for dessert. We are so excited to bring our family back.

I chose to bring my family here for a big dinner one sunday night because of the high ratings on yelp. Unfortunately it did not meet expectation. First of all, the restaurant is difficult to find and located in an office bay which creates a weird ambience to begin with. The decor inside is not very nice, definitely not romantic as it claims to be. The outdoor area is great but they need to bump up the class a bit by at least having table cloths. The servers were amazing. Very kind and accommodating. The food was mostly subpar with a few exceptions. The burrata salad was delicious and some of the pasta dishes were good. All the portions were so tiny which definitely skews the $$ marking. The bread sucked, the soup of the day was straight olive oil- gross, we sent it back, the salmon was not very good, and the chocolate soufflé was hardly hot and really nothing special, plus the pathetic, hamster sized scoop of vanilla ice cream was really insult to injury. We all left underwhelmed, unsatisfied, and still hungry. Won't go back.

I went with a couple of friends for dinner. It was very busy when we arrived but we're treated with a lot of attention. We had drinks at the bar and then were seated at a table. Ambiance was great. Family friendly , date friendly and good for big groups. I loved the decor and had amazing fish. I had the ravioli as a starter and it melts in your mouth. Great wine, great food, great ambiance!! Will come back soon!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
